HOW DO YOU STAY ON TOP OF CURRENT DESIGN TRENDS AND TO WHAT EXTENT IS YOUR BRAND CREATING THE TRENDS?

We don’t follow trends, we don’t attend trade show nor exhibit in any of the fairs. We don’t work to a brief or base our collection on what sold last season. The creative process is very organic with a distinctive hand writing we have developed throughout the years. I would characterise our work as bold, colourful, eclectic, crafty.

WHAT IS THE CRAZIEST/FUNNIEST/MOST INTERESTING THING YOU EVER BEEN INSPIRED BY?

This is a difficult question to answer since I am constantly inspired by my travels, exhibitions I visit, people I meet.

HOW WOULD THE INTERIOR OF THE IDEAL HOUSE LOOK LIKE?

Very monastic at times and full of colour s and patterns at other times but never with any touches of nostalgia.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE COLLECTION?

It is a hard choice. Our collections are very small and intimate, a real labour of love and are rather versatile since we collaborate with artists and designers’ archival collections. With diverse points of views and historical references. I always love the last collection we develop. Our latest collection was designed by Tord Boontje and it would be safe to add the archival collection by Phylis Baron and Dorothy Larcher, 2 English artists active between 1920-1940, their work is rooted in the Arts and Crafts movement.

WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER AS ONE OF THE MASTER PIECES?

There are elements from certain collections that are very dear to me. Vertical from our first collection, Untitled which I find the most challenging in terms of pattern and especially in the red colour way. Kazulu an outdoor weave which pays homage to crafts/tribal and hand making. Our new wall paper Garden by Tord Boontje with a pattern repeat of 15 metres is full of surprises.
